Her power
Fierce and raw
Once born of her commitment
To anger
Now residing in her inner space
Fierce and raw
Alongside peace and contentment
Awaken. Heal. Inspire.
Her power
Fierce and raw
Once born of her commitment
To anger
Now residing in her inner space
Fierce and raw
Alongside peace and contentment
In the end, she thought
Does it even really matter
If I shed these angry tears
Does anyone ever listen?
And in the pause
Between life and breath
She knew
And she went back out
To live another day
In this world as I see it now
There is darkness,
So much pain, fear
And justifiable anger
And there is also light,
Seeping between the sensational headlines,
Weaving through the hateful words spewed across the aisle,
Lights in the cracks of institutional walls
Crumbing under our own weight
There is light if I choose to see it
There is light if I choose to be it
If I don’t succumb to collective fear
But instead rise up in solidarity,
In truth and power for my fellow beings
Letting my light seep through the cracks,
Crumble the walls,
Create a barrier for hate,
Offer a healing salve for all who hurt
Let the light in
Let the light in

She’s dark coffee
And sips of wine
A little bit of anger
And a whole lot of pain
But boy, how she shines
Where, in this big, beautiful world,
Did you realize that you were one
With the flowering trees,
The tiniest ant,
The most majestic lion,
The mountaintop itself?
When did they speak to you,
With cries and longing
Of their tragic hopes for this world,
Shattered, yet optimistic,
Their existence proof
There is beauty still around us,
Their hope a pathway to graze
Yet do not ignore what else they bring,
Their righteous anger
For a world gone mad,
Their peace,
A path that leads us home

Sorrow, joy, flames of anger
Wrap your passionate arms around us
Help us remember that we, too
Possess your daring
And deserve to feel your passion
Springing from within
