Come with me, she says
Why do you resist?
The inner world is calm and wise
Yet also raw and unpredictable,
Whispers back my healing heart
Take my hand
Take a step
Mountains don’t move alone
Awaken. Heal. Inspire.
Come with me, she says
Why do you resist?
The inner world is calm and wise
Yet also raw and unpredictable,
Whispers back my healing heart
Take my hand
Take a step
Mountains don’t move alone
Don’t ever let them convince you
That longing for the truth
Is a waste of time
Or that finding your own way
In a world that tries its damnedest
To obscure the view
Is somehow the definition of crazy
If that’s crazy, lock me up
And throw away the key
“All things change,” I was reminded,
Yet I never have watched a summer go by
Without sadness,
The darkening of the days,
The cooling of the nights,
Songbirds and children trying to make the best
Of the waning hours of warmth and sunlight,
Cool, clear night skies
Under a harvest moon
Until it’s dark to rise and dark to lie down,
Solemn hibernation under a pile of blankets
And I just didn’t realize how tired I was,
Still, there’s that distinct twinge of autumn blues
Maybe all things must change
But resistance is in my nature

Desperate to make her own existence
Just a bit more meaningful
She does what to her
Is unthinkable
Stepping out into the world
With heavy heart and raging tears
Her heart exposed
Unsteady but ready
To face what comes her way
To usher in a new, imperfect day
When she really thought about it
She realized peace was inside her all along
She’d missed it in the seeking
The busyness and the longing
Clouding her ability to see what was already there
With that awareness, she was truly free
She may not always have the words
But she has the heart
She may not always be nice
But she strives to be kind
She may not always say what you want to hear
But truth hurts sometimes
