What will we do
With the love we’re given?
Will we see it for what it is:
Necessary
Challenging
Painful
Conditional
Unconditional
Finite
Enduring
Or will we protest it,
Avoid it,
Shove it away
When it comes
Trying our hardest
To shield our tender hearts
From its lessons
Not realizing,
Not seeing
That love is more
Than an emotion
Greater than the heartbreak
And the joy it renders,
More enduring
Than its rocky beginnings
And endings
Love is what we are,
Inside and out,
Forever and always,
No beginning and no end,
Only love inside
