Sitting there on that sideline
Why do you not get up and play?
Why do you hang your head,
Beaten down by the world,
Beaten down by your own harsh words
If you lift up your eyes,
You might see the bigger picture,
Life above the game,
The matrix of all things
Laid out before you
And you there, a tiny speck in it all,
Swimming in your own self-doubt
But up here, it means nothing
Up here, this air is clear,
And so too is your view of yourself,
Your sense of loss, shame, and hopelessness,
Melded into the great pool
That is life,
Not alone in your doubts
But joined as one with all the others
Searching,
Longing,
Finding the strength to go on,
To raise eyes higher,
To see that all belong
In the matrix
In the maze
Finding their way
Up and out
Together
