We can’t hide from grief. We can evade it for a while, but eventually it sneaks up, cloaked in something even more ferocious and unwieldy. Grief, like any other emotion, is meant to be experienced in all its painful glory, connecting us to our humanness. Being human means to feel.
So many run from grief. The belief of becoming immersed in busy-ness will keep at bay the pain. It does eventually catch up. In some form or another.
I’ve been there. Â And sometimes I still feel like running, even though I know the eventual consequences. Â But I try not to power through, just let it flow. Â

Ashley, people are so shut down that when I even mention the losses I’ve had, the words just fall on deaf ears. It’s as though it does not matter. It’s shocking. I’m speaking of family …
I know, Amy. It’s so difficult. Â Not only do we need to experience our grief, we need people who can hold space for us to do that. Â They do exist but are difficult to find.
